Check your download speed. The easiest way to do this is to type internet speed into Google and then click the RUN SPEED TEST button near the top of the search results. This will give you an estimate of your computer's current download speed. First off, make sure that you are running the Origin Client as administrator. Fix for slow download speeds in Origin

Im not sure if this is in the right place but origin is downloading really slow. I normally get 4 - 8 MB/s but a couple times was downloading at 300KB/s. Of the drawbacks of digital game stores. Sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow.

Go to the folder where origin is installed Create new file called 'EACore.ini' (make sure it's not .ini.txt)

Inside, paste following Code: [connection] EnvironmentName=production

Get

[Feature] CdnOverride=akamai

THis will boot up R&D, research and development mode, which somehow gives a lot of users more speed!
You can always remove EACore.ini :)

It wasn’t long ago when the Internet was a foreign concept to many Americans; the American consumers who did have Internet access were typically limited to the speeds that their dial-up modems could provide. While there were a few tweaks one could do to those devices for a slight performance increase, today’s DSLs and cable modems can be tweaked in any number of different ways. Some of those ways will provide you with faster speeds for downloading games and a faster Internet connection in general.

Use a wired Ethernet connection as opposed to a wireless connection whenever possible. Wired Internet connections aren’t typically susceptible to the amount of data loss and other interference that can reduce the signal of a wireless Internet connection. If Wi-Fi is your only means of connection, try to place your modem or router in a position that provides 100% connection strength in order to get the fastest download speeds possible.

Purchase a faster network adapter and Ethernet hub. These are available in three speeds; 10 Mb, 100 Mb and 1,000 Mb. Note that these devices will not allow you to increase your speed above the amount of bandwidth that is allotted to you by your Internet Service Provider; rather, they are used to take full advantage of the bandwidth you are currently receiving.

Update the drivers for your network adapter. Updates are created in order to fix bugs, errors, and sometimes simply to improve overall performance. The newest drivers should be available for download from the website of your network adapter’s manufacturer.

Avoid using other Internet applications on the same PC when downloading games. Doing so means your entire Internet connection will be dedicated to handling one task at a time instead of dividing your bandwidth and connection speed between tasks.

Clean up your hard disk using the supplied “Disk Defragmenter” and “Disk Cleanup” program on a regular basis. This removes unnecessary files from your hard drive while placing important files in order, improving hard drive access times as a result.

Remove unwanted cookies and temporary Internet files from your PC. The method for doing so varies depending on the exact web browser you are using, but deleting these files can result in a significant increase in download performance.

Ask your Internet Service Provider for an increase in bandwidth. Many ISPs provide faster Internet connections for both DSLs and cable modems--at an additional cost, of course. Contact your ISP for specific information regarding packages available in your area.
